Fermented Fish Amino Acids - FAA

Materials: Fresh fish waste, brown sugar, apples, IMO 4, 5 gallon bucket with lid

Uses oily species of fish that are locally available (mackerel, salmon, trout, perch)

Chop fish waste (bones, heads, guts, etc) into bucket size pieces

Layer fish waste and brown sugar. Go heavy on the brown sugar.

Add quartered apples, ~10 per 5 gallon bucket

Pack material into bucket and Cover, burp weekly (lift lid briefly) to allow oxygen flow

Store in cool, dark , dry place

Let sit 3-6 months, FAA finishes fermenting

Strain off liquid FAA into jar, store in cool , dark place

Finished product is dark sweet fishy smelling liquid

Use solid fish waste in compost or to make Water Soluble Calcium Phosphate (WCP)

Combine with Brown Rice Vinegar, 1:10 (FIsh:BRV) to make WCP


Use: General dilution rate 1/1000 or ~1/2 TBS per 5 gallons of H2O
